| History: |
The title says 1980, so maybe mine is the last of the 12 built by Hansen GmbH, in Baden-Baden Germany. Anyway, I've owned this bike since 1996 when it came up at auction when the Fuji Motor Museum closed. It was purchased new by a Japanese industrialist Mr Hayashi, who also had an 1100 Grand Prix along with many other regular MVs. I have ridden it just once, just to check out the engine and gear box, before it joined my collection. |
| Modifications: |
The bike is 100% original, but was looking a little shabby. So I decided to improve it. First the brakes wern't working properly. So with the help of Road and Race in Australia. I had all the masters and calipers rebuilt. Now they work as well as any Scarab brake system can. Secondly the body work didn't shine. There was a small dent in the gas tank from a tie down strap. So I had a World Class motorcycle painter repair the tank and polish and buff the bodywork. None of the original paint was repainted, just repaired. Now it looks fantastic. Next up, were the fantastic curved Magni exhaust pipes. They didn't look so good. So I had them jet pipe coated. Not with an rattle paint can, but the proper expensive way, simular to powder coating. These too look fantastic now. This concludes the cosmetic restoration, and it now looks like a Million Bucks. |
| Problems: |
I haven't used it enough to have had any problems. It has a correct US title, and is NOW SOLD, it's no longer offered at US$57,500. |

Hansen was the German importer for MV Agusta motorcycles. When the factory closed it's doors in 1978 to consentrate on helicopter production. The Agusta Group gave permission for Hansen to produce a small and exclusive number of bikes. Arturo Magni assisted with these bikes, and provided many parts and advice. The engines were built by Roland Schneider. Mine is the only Hansen, German built MV Agusta in the United States. It is guarenteed to be 100% genuine and original. I have a copy of the book 'Fuji Motor Museum' which shows a two page picture of this bike. I also have the auction catalog from where it was purchased. |
