| History: |
Last bike owned '99 Honda VFR 800, bought new, approximately 70,000 miles at trade in on the Brute. Various other Jap Bikes (street and off road) over the past several decades, but no exotics. |
| Modifications: |
Removed stock mirrors and installed Napoleon bar end mirrors; removed passenger pegs; adjusted all suspension settings to full soft or near full soft; replaced mid pipe, eliminating the catalytic converter; new air filter; tunable chip installed and retuned. |
| Problems: |
My only problem with the Brute is the seat. |
| Comments: |
The Brute is a blast. Granted, I gave up some creature comforts that I had become accustomed to on the VFR. The seat for one, I had a Sargent on the VFR which was good for a long haul. The softening of the susp improved the ride significantly and the seat seems to be getting better with break in. The bike is just what I was looking for though and more. The low and mid range power dilivery of the Brute is the sweetest, delivering more useable power than the VFR ( which was known for it's torque) anywhere in the rev range. Weighing approximately 70-80 lbs less than the VFR the handling of the Brute is beyond compare. I made the perfect choice for my next bike. |
