In depth
History: I purchased this machine during April 2007 after seeing it advertised on the UK mainland.

After speaking with the then current owner, and subsequent previous owners to him, and also having all the relevant security checks carried out I jumped on the ferry, hired a van in Liverpool and drove down to Norwich.

When I arrived it was a beautiful day, the sun was beaming, the roads were dry and I was greeted by a charming Sicilian gentleman named Riccardo, he took me to his home where the F4 1000 was languishing in his garage.
The bike was in lovely condition and I was very impressed with it at once.
I must say that I was very dubious about travelling all that way to see a bike which had already had three owners and was only 18 months old.
Modifications: The bike was in bog standard condition when I bought it, but since then I have fitted a set of titanium Silmoto slip-ons, removed the catalytic link pipe, fitted a new link pipe and a power commander III (Thanks again John @ Dyno-Solutions in Connecticut USA) and a BMC air filter.

Problems: The back brake is non existent as is on my 750, (Helpful comments welcomed)

There has been an annoying oil leak from around the final drive shaft area, possibly a faulty casing or final drive shaft main seal (Or both) its been back to the dealer under warranty but still persists, and MV are taking forever to send the correct parts to cure it

The front end is very rigid in comparison to the 750, it is certainly not as comfortable, the Showa front end on the 750 seems to be better than the Marzocci forks fitted on the 1000.

I have tried a lot of different set ups but feel that the bike is over sprung and may well need a K-Tech job doing on the front end (Comments welcome)

Most of my riding is done on the TT course when the roads are quiet early Sunday mornings etc.

The fuelling is still a problem to me as I have been unable to get this baby of the dyno yet @ Raceways in Fleetwood for Simon to wave his wand over it because of the oil leak, so consequently it runs like a bag of crap below 4500 and I need help and guidance on this front, but hey!!...............I have only had it a couple of months and these things need time to get sorted out.

The oil leak has now been sorted out with a new engine casing on the left side of the engine, and the bike has now been dyno'd returning 151bhp @ the rear wheel when I arrived on the dyno and 161bhp @ the rear wheel when I left the dyno centre.

My thanks to Simon who runs the Carbon Can Co in Fleetwood Lancashire, England.

Update July 2010.

I have spent a lot of money on this machine and as a result have now completely sorted out the fuelling on it. The brakes have been seriously upgraded and so has the suspension and wheels. The carbon fibre bodywork is beautiful to look at and much admired by those who see it in real life.
Comments: I love this bike as it does everything that the 750 doesn't. The power is terrific and I did have a period of time and motion adjustment whereas I was just coming into bends far too hot as the bike is effortlessly fast and very deceptive too.

It is without doubt far more of a 'Point it and pull the trigger' machine than my 750. I'm still learning about it so will update later
