In depth
History: Bought a F4 1000S in february 2008 second hand as a secondary bike to my ZZR1400 which was dismantled for a complex GT 35 R turbo installation project. The MV was not immediately my friend but after fitting a set of new Michelin Pilot Power tires this changed completely. After riding the bike for 1,5 month i decided to order the brand new F4 1078 312RR. This bike is of a different league compared to the ZZR. Though the ZZR is a very torqy bike (165 Nm with mods) without any vibration whatsoever and over 200 HP, the new MV is with 25kgs less weight and 275 cc less engine displacement comparable in power output but with a much higher FUNFACTOR !.
Modifications: May 2008: BMC Air filter, Rapid Bike cable kit installed awaiting delivery of the RB II module and O2 eliminator because the RBIII is not yet available for this new bike.
I own privately a Dynostar static testbench and when the bike is fully run in i will map it for optimum
low end performance delivery, although throttle response is already much smoother than for example my previous F4 1000S.
July 2008: Carbon rear fender, front fender, license plate holder, Integrated LED taillight/blinker kit,
Replaced original waterpump impeller with one from Emoto and the 2 radiator fanblades by alumium replacements from Muzzy these mods together improve the average temperature by 10-15 degr. Celsius !!!
Installed the new Dimsport O2 Modulator (not an eliminator !) and also the Rapid Bike III module, although Dimsport does not yet support that (because the ignition is not yet implemented) but i think a can at least also use the quickshift feature (only available on RBIII) which i liked very much on my other bike the powerful ZZR1400.
Started mapping the bike very conservatively and almost immediately improved on throttle response in the 4000-6000 rpm region.
Problems: After 2500 kms the radiator started leaking heavily in the middle of the matrix and was replaced by a
F4 Oro upgrade kit radiator, because the factory could not deliver a replacement before the end of May.
I suspect this is not an incidental problem because the partnumber for the replacement is different from the original partnumber !!
I would like to know from other owners if they encountered similar problems......
In June i found out that the exhaust manifold (which is one piece from headerpipes till after the big kat) was broken in several places.
My dealer rapidly took care of a replacement piece but i decided that the quality had not improved so
i cut the original header and replaced the katalysator midpipe with one from Arrow and also welded in an extra bung for a second Wideband O2 sensor (Bosch LSU4 with Innovate motorsports XD-16 display)
Lost right heelplate (mounted on the midpipe) twice because the weld was torn loose !!!(due to vibrations i guess...)
The dealer and importer promised me a new tailpipe as soon as the financial situation at MV Agusta was cleared again. They also told me that the factory recognized the problem and was working on an improved exhaust system (with a katalysator of course .................)

NEVERTHELESS STILL HAPPY WITH THIS PLAYFUL BEAST......
